PEOPLE
EATING PEOPLE They
smiled and they wrote things in their ledgers. And
even then I knew why I
had committed crimes of thinking and feeling. And
on my child’s mind they laid the blame, And
they tried to teach me a game. It
was called “People eating people,” and
I asked them why that’s so. They
said people have always eaten people, and
it’s always been in fashion you know. Now
it’s come to me That
at 53, I
see rosebuds and depleted uranium. I
see old dogs and children and
weapons of mass destruction. I
see 260 million happy face masks. And
I struggle for ancient wisdom I
see fallen golden arches of contradictions. So
I can neither live half a life, nor dwell forever in shadows, I
figured that Life is for the living, And
so I carried on with
eyes open. While
people were eating people. It’s
always been in fashion you know. And
you’ll come to like it too. PEOPLE
